Gauteng trainer Candice Dawson has found it tough going so far in the no holds barred bullring of the Sizzling Summer Season but made her trip down South worthwhile with her first winner in the Cape.
The handsome Australian-bred grey Infamous Fox scored a surprise victory to break the ice in the penultimate race at Kenilworth on Saturday.

The second winner for Fastnet Rock sire Foxwedge on the day – the Brett Crawford trained Run Fox Run impressed on debut in the first – Infamous Fox produced a cracking late burst under Avontuur jockey MJ Byleveld to catch Ready Steady Go in the shadow of the post.
It was Byleveld’s second winner in 24 hours since returning from a five month injury break a week earlier.
Infamous Fox, a 4yo gelding, had rattled off four wins on the trot last term, including a smashing win over Drill Hall Stakes winner Perovskia on July day when winning the Listed Thukela Handicap. He was subsequently outgunned in the Charity Mile and was outclassed as a surprise runner in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate at his last start.
After his defeat of Perovskia on July day, he again proved the nemesis of trainer Harold Crawford, who sadly suffered a stroke earlier this week, when he pegged back the free-striding Ready Steady Go to win the topliner, a R110 000 MR 102 Handicap, by a neck in a time of 86,38 secs.
The winner was saddled by Tammy Dawson.
Kenny Trix ran third in a Place Accumulator knockout, with the favourite Silver Maple running a disappointing race in fourth.

The winner was purchased for A$25 000 off the Glastonbury Farms draft at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A son of champion second season sire and Gr1 sprinter Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock), Infamous Fox is out of the unraced French (Nadeem), a half-sister to the staying stakes winner Ovidio (Danehill Dancer), who was trained by Justin Snaith.
Foxwedge’s 2018 Service Fee was A$22,000.
Infamous Fox has won 6 races with 2 places from 15 starts for stakes of R481 750.
