The extended deadline for this year’s auction drew several additional entries from among several top breeders, including Klawervlei Stud, Drakenstein, Lammerskraal and Normandy, with Julia Pilbeam’s Soetendal Estate again well represented with a variety of beautifully-bred and well-prepped two-year-olds.

“This is a catalogue with outstanding depth and variety. One of the best we have had, and there will be the customary value-buying potential for pedigree students willing to do their homework,” said Grant Knowles, MD of CTS.

In total, 127 lots will be going through the auction ring, and all the top sires are represented, including Gimmethegreenlight, Querari, Captain Of All, Vercingetorix, What A Winter, Elusive Fort and Rafeef.

A number of superbly bred first foals will come under the hammer, and among them are a Soetendal-prepared William Longsword colt bred from Dream De Ra, the half-sister to exported listed winner, Miss Frankel. From the same farm comes a Rafeef colt out of Golden Cloud (Silvano), from the immediate family of stallion Pomodoro.

Also sure to attract lively interest will be a colt sired by Twice Over from Jo’s Bond (Captain Al), who won eight races, including the G2 Southern Cross Stakes.

Winterbach Stud also has a beautifully-bred William Longsword first foal from Kilauea (Trippi), the four-time winning and graded-place mare from the close family of Kildonan.

Riethuiskraal will present a Visionaire first colt foal from Favour’s Pride, the multiple stakes-placed mare by Harry Hall, who brings world champion broodmare sire Pivotal into his female line.

Nadeson Park has an Elusive Fort first filly foal on offer – she is out of a four-time winning mare by leading international broodmare sire More Than Ready, from a good international female line.

Normandy brings a second foal of Matushka (Windrush), a full sister to star mare Mother Russia. This one is a filly sired by Elusive Fort. Soetendal (as agent) has the third produce of the Casey Tibbs mare, Eva Tibbs, whose one runner so far is the listed winner, Paisley Park.
