Elusive Gold gets up on the line to beat stablemate Captain America in the 2013 Gr1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas

The 2013 Gr1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas winner Elusive Gold makes his Hong Kong debut on Sunday, 25 January 2015 for owner Mr C. W. Hui and conditioner Tony Millard.

The Ascot Stud-bred son of Sail From Seattle was campaigned in South Africa by Philippi-based trainer, Brett Crawford.  However, he was always destined for foreign shores and shortly after his nail-biting victory over stablemate Captain America in the 2013 Cape Guineas, the smart colt entered quarantine bound for Hong Kong.

Mr Hui clearly does not believe in the old wives’ tale that changing a horse’s name brings bad luck and the colt will step out at Sha Tin under the new name of Golden Sleep.

French rider Maxime Guyon will be in the irons when they face the starter for the 1400m Surrey Handicap, race 10 on today’s card at Sha Tin.  Runners and riders will be under starters’ orders at 17:45 Hong Kong time (approx 11:45 local time)
