Emerald Resort & Casino pulls out all the stops at its Emerald Cup event, especially when it comes to the entertainment on offer. This year the Cup will take place on the 27th September and will feature South African artists like Lonehill Estate, Daniel Baron and Lloyd Cele.

Coined as Africa’s richest race on sand, The Emerald Cup was first run in 2005 and is the Vaal Racecourse’s biggest race of the year. Furthermore, it was announced earlier this year that the stakes will be upped to R1 000 000 from the previous year’s amount of R600 000 for the 1450m race.

“As the sponsor of the Emerald Cup since inception, we have always managed to secure top notch entertainers for the day, and this year will certainly be no different,” says Marli Wolmarans,Media and PR Manager at Emerald Resort & Casino. “Combined with a variety of activities for kids of all ages, the day is set to be a memorable one for the entire family.”

Lonehill Estate burst onto South African radio in the same year as the Emerald Cup was first run, with hit singles ‘Girl on a Roof’ and ‘Skyward’. The band has received airplay in the US, Germany and Japan and have been invited to perform in the USA and Switzerland. (https://www.blogger.com/profile/02154598874238405718)

Other achievements include opening for Bon Jovi in 2013, winning a Wawela Music Award for ‘Best Male Artist and Composer’ and was nominated for ‘Best Soundtrack in a Feature Film or Theatric Documentary’.
