Silvano – In Great Demand

Everybody wants one

John Koster of Klawervlei Stud and Pippa Mickleburgh of Avontuur Stud, who have exciting drafts to send through the auctioneer’s ring, were all smiles on the eve of the 2016 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale – and for good reason.

Both stud farms have progeny of Silvano among their yearlings.

Klawervlei Silvano – #156

Koster is particularly chuffed with Lot 156, an unnamed colt born from the mare Shadow Dancing, who won both the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas and G1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes.

Avontuur’s Silvano – #90

The colt has a stallion’s pedigree and comes from a truly exceptional female line.

He is a half brother to four winners, including Gr1 Paddock Stakes/Gr1 Empress Club Stakes winner Thunder Dance and high class feature race contender Shadow Ofhis Smile.

Avontuur’s La Scala (Lot 90) is a similarly good-looking young horse – he’s a chestnut by Silvano from La Normandie, the mare that produced G1 winner Normanz (by VAR), in 2010.

The Sale will be conducted at the Emperors Palace Hotel and Casino and starts at 2pm on Friday.
