The mares are offered in foal to some of South Africa’s best and most exciting sire prospects around. Covering sires represented at the Milkwood Sale include Silvano, Var, Noordhoek Flyer, King’s Apostle, Mambo In Seattle, Ideal World, Judpot, Russian Sage, and Black Minnaloushe.

One of the many classy mares on sale is Fairy Footprints. Catalogued as lot 52, she is the dam of the very promising 3yo Taipan – a horse who has been nominated for the 2012 Vodacom Durban July.  Fairy Footprints, consigned by Milkwood, sells in foal to the well bred G1 performer, Mambo In Seattle.

A stakes winner from the family of champion Mythical Flight, Western Fleet is the dam of the top-class filly, Lady Var. She is back in foal to Var – and her resulting foal will be an own sibling to Lady Var.

The Gary Player Stud also has some lovely mares on sale. Lot 1, Merry Mistral, is a proven producer, with a female line to match.  A half-sister to Gold Circle Derby winner Superwood, Merry Mistral, herself, is the dam of former top-class 2yo colt, Arctic Captain. She is currently in foal to dual Guineas winner Noordhoek Flyer, a son of world leading sire Pivotal.

The same farm is also offering lot 15, Royal Mayfair. A top-class racemare, Royal Mayfair won five races, and was placed in the G3 Langerman Handicap. Already dam of two winners, Royal Mayfair is in foal to former Equus Champion, Russian Sage.

Mautizfontein has some truly blue blooded mares on sale, and, their draft includes, no doubt,  many potential successful broodmares.

Named Nuttalli, the mare, consigned by Mauritzfontein Stud, is a daughter of former G1 Cape Derby winner Dog Wood, by champion sire Fort Wood.
