Exclaim’n’Exclude: MR Appeal Bombs

Merit Rating Appeal

An Appeal was lodged by Mr Charles Laird on behalf of the horse EXCLAIM’N’EXCLUDE (AUS) against the Merit Rating of 102, with particular mention to Race 5 run at Turffontein Racecourse on 5 February 2011, where he competed against the horse TWO TONE.

An independent panel consisting of Messrs M Lips, R Napier and M Wanklin was convened to hear this Appeal on 24 February 2011 by teleconference.

The Panel unanimously agreed that ARABIAN MIST used by the Handicappers, was the appropriate line horse.

Furthermore, the Panel agreed that the performance of EXCLAIM’N’EXCLUDE (AUS) was not consistent with previous performances.

As a result, the Panel was unanimous that the Merit Rating of 102 is correct and therefore overruled the appeal.

The deposit fee will be forfeited.
