Bush Hill Stud’s regally bred stallion Flying The Flag came up with his first winner, when his newly turned three-year-old daughter Cecca won at Fairview on Monday.
Bred by the Piemonte Stud, the Alan Greeff trained Cecca got off the mark at the fourth time of asking, when scoring a facile win over 1200m.
Under jockey Teaque Gould, Cecca pulled clear to score by two and a quarter lengths, with the filly having contested the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery at her most recent start.
Out of the Windrush mare Rush To Stardom, Cecca hails from the first crop of her well performed sire.
Flying The Flag, a son of the world’s premier stallion Galileo, won three times with his victories including a four length romp in the 2013 Gr3 eFlow “You First” International Stakes at the Curragh where his beaten rivals included Gr1 St James’s Palace Stakes winner Most Improved.
One of 322 stakes winners sired by Galileo, Flying The Flag is a full-brother to multiple Gr1 winners Rhododendron and Magical, with Magical recently having captured the Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup for a second year running.
The blue blooded Flying The Flag is out of Pivotal’s top-class daughter Halfway To Heaven, who won all of the Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas, G1 Nassau Stakes and G1 Sun Chariot Stakes.
