Fourie To Take The Reins Today

The first race at Turffontein is off at 11h30

Racing is back on the Standside course at Turffontein this afternoon and ten races are carded.

The main event of the day is the Grade 2 Allied Steelrode – Onamission Charity Mile.

There is a R1 million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R6 million.

It is an early start to the day with the first due off at 11h30.

It is exciting to see the return of Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara winner, Rain In Holland who takes her place in Race 3.

She followed up her Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks win with an equally impressive victory in the Grade 2 4Racing Gerald Rosenberg Stakes. She has won twice and finished third twice from as many starts over this course and distance. The classy daughter of Duke Of Marmalade should notch up her tenth career victory.

Bingwa from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable takes his place in the Grade 2 Allied Steelrode – Onamission Charity Mile.

He received a bump leaving the starting stalls in the Grade 2 TopBet Mike O’Connor Joburg Spring Challenge last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching.

The son of Pathfork won this race last year and from pole position, he has a good chance of defending his title.

Please note that P Strydom will not be riding today.
