After a great weekend, jockey Gavin Lerena cemented his position at the top of the SA jockey log ahead of current champion S’manga Khumalo and the major beneficiaries of Lerena’s hot streak and generosity are the local Horse Care Units, who are benefitting to the tune of R500 per winner.

Lerena issued a challenge at Scottsville on Saturday, calling for the rest of the industry to equal or better his contribution.

Freeman stallions was the first to come to the party, and they have in turn challenged others to take up the good cause.
