Global View Gets Another

Son of Galileo is enjoying great support

The Bush Hill Stud-bred Lookout House won the first at Fairview on Friday for trainer Gavin Smith and owner Andrea Puggia to give Ascot Stud’s reigning SA Champion Freshman Sire Global View another smart early winner.

Having earned at his first four outings, Lookout House was a popular half length winner of the 1000m all-weather contest in a time of 57,80 secs.

A R70 000 KZN Yearling Sale graduate, he is out of the one-time winning Western Winter mare, Suvretta House.

On Thursday at the Vaal, the Lucky Houdalakis-trained Brooklyn Bridge, a daughter of Global View, passed the post first in a 1450m maiden, but was relegated to second in the Stipes boardroom after a successful objection. She should not be long in winning.

A son of Galileo, Global View ended the 2019-2020 season with eight South African first crop winners, with his tally headed by Listed Champion Juvenile Cup winner Global Drummer.  The latter, bred by Ascot, has won four of just five starts from 1000m to 1400m, with Global Drummer also victorious in the Listed Dahlia Plate and Listed East Cape Nursery.

Ascot’s Stud’s Ashley Parker told the Sporting Post on Friday that Global View’s terrific start had seen him enjoy great support from breeders.

“They are winning early and are getting their speed from Storm Cat, his damsire. We are thrilled with the quality of mare, and his coverings this term include the likes of Gr1 winner Royal Fantasy, Coral Tree, who is dam of Gr1 winner Coral Fever, Agbalat (Cape Cross), dam of Gr1 speed horse Pacific Trader and Royal Drummer, dam of his freshman flagbearer, Global Drummer,” he added.

Winner of the Gr3 Generous Stakes at two, and the Gr2 American Turf Stakes at three, Global View shares his outstanding sire Galileo with Gr1 Investec Oaks winner Love, and Investec Derby victor Serpentine, as well as the top stallions Frankel, New Approach and Teofilo.

Global View stands for an unchanged fee of R20 000. Enquiries to Dr Ashley Parker on email [email protected]
