Last Of The Gold

Sean Tarry will train Shine Bright

Goldkeeper

Goldkeeper – retired

History was made recently when the very last foal ever sired by Sandown Stud’s wonderful sire Goldkeeper went into training.

The filly, who has been named Shine Bright, has been sent to champion trainer elect Sean Tarry, who also trains talented Goldkeeper colt Imperial Gold.

Shine Bright, who was bred by Sandown, is out of the three time winning Lizard Island mare Bright Thing. From the same family as the top class females Do You Remember, Festive Occasion and Supper Club, Shine Bright is intensely inbred to the hugely influential broodmare Crimson Saint (third dam of Goldkeeper and second dam of Lizard Island).

Her sire Goldkeeper (Mr Prospector) was an exceptional sire, whose stud career was sadly blighted by fertility issues which resulted in Goldkeeper’s eventual retirement from stud duties.

Despite these issues, Goldkeeper quickly established himself as a top class sire. Beginning his stud career in Zimbabwe, the bay’s very first crop included a champion (Gold Flame), as well as multiple Grade One winner Gold Tax, winner of both the Premier’s Juvenile Championship and Sharp Electronics Cup.

Subsequent crops unleashed a flurry of top class stakes winners including champion Battle Maiden (Gr1 Garden Province Stakes), Zimbabwean star Hide Out, top fillies Geepee S and Give Me Five- both of whom won the Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship, top sprinting filly Disco Queen, world class sprinter Tiza, and the graded stakes winners Cerise Cherry (who subsequently finished in the G1 Hong Kong Sprint), Francois Bernardus, Golden Ivory, Gold Site, Kushka, Marine Sands, and Secrets Of Victoria.

He also sired an exceptional percentage of winners to runners, with Goldkeeper’s 379 individual runners producing 305 winners (80% winners to runners).

Goldkeeper has also become a successful broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced the likes of champion filly All Is Secret and top class sprinter Reflective Image, to name but a few.

An above average racehorse who won four, Goldkeeper, a stallion with a superb temperament, has an impeccable pedigree. Not only is he a son of one of the world’s all time great stallions, but his Gr2 Palomar Handicap winning dam Chapel Of Dreams, is a Northern Dancer sired half sister to dual US Champion Sire Storm Cat.
