Cape Guineas Thriller On Cards

R1 million Gr1 Cape Guineas

The final field for the R1 million Gr1 Cape Guineas to be run over a mile at Kenilworth on Saturday 17 December is headed by Cape Classic winner Table Bay, who will be looking to atone for a below par effort in the Selangor Cup last month.

Cape Classic winner Table Bay is out to set the record straight

The son of Redoute’s Choice was hailed the next big thing after a scintillating win in the Cape Classic, but was found wanting behind Gold Standard and Edict Of Nantes in the Selangor Cup.

His return to best form will be awaited with anticipation by racing enthusiasts.

The capacity field is a typically nationally representative mix, although merit ratings suggest that this is not one of the strongest Guineas in history, with two horses coming in with MR 108 and the rest MR 101 or less.

Consider the big shoes to fill of the last five year’s winners, that include Noah From Goa (108), Act Of War (113), Elusive Gold (104), Capetown Noir (103), Variety Club (110).
