Cape Champion Out

Champions Cup field depleted by star's withdrawal

Capetown Noir, the 2014 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner has been scratched from Saturday’s Gr1 Beach Beauty Champions Cup.

Trainer Dean Kannemeyer said that his champion miler had sprained an off -fore joint in work and it had been decided to take him out of the race.

“It is a disappointment for the team and his owner but he is a valuable colt and it makes no sense to push him. The injury is not a serious one, but we will rather rest him now with the view on another bid for the Queen’s Plate in 2015.”
