Beach Beauty is queen of the turf

Beach Beauty wins Garden Province_compressed

Yet another Gr1 victory for Sean Cormack and Beach Beauty

The brilliant Dynasty mare Beach Beauty notched up the fifth Gr1 victory of her illustrious career when storming home to win the R750 000 Gr1 Garden Province Stakes run over a mile at Greyvillle on Saturday. She could make her final appearance in the Champions Cup on Super Saturday.

A great decision in the end by top trainer Dennis Drier to give the July a miss and plug for another Gr1 and a defence of her Garden Province Stakes title turned into a happy ever after story as Beach Beauty delivered yet again.

The 5yo has been a punter’s friend throughout her racing career and even though she faced a competitive field, galloped her way to her 17th win from 31 starts. She has run 10 places into the bargain and took her stakes earnings to R5 301 213.

That places her at the forefront of stakes earners racing in South Africa in the current season. Not bad for a leased filly!

Once making her final appearance at the end of this month she heads off to the magnificent Drakenstein Stud where she will get every opportunity to make a name for herself as a broodmare.

On Saturday she squared up to the star Trippi filly Hammie’s Hooker, who was actually backed in some quarters to beat her.

Regular jockey Sean Cormack had Beach Beauty beautifully placed on the rail in third as Louvre took up the pacemaking duties. Hammie’s Hooker was about two lengths behind Beach Beauty.

Into the home straight Beach Beauty hit the front with Bernard Fayd’herbe and Hammie’s Hooker looming menacingly but there was no stopping the champion and she went away to hold her opponent to 0,75 lengths in a time of 93,96 secs.

This was the fourth occasion she had beaten Hammie’s Hooker at Gr 1 level and there was plenty of quality behind them.

Beach Beauty is a daughter of Dynasty out of the three-time winning Capture Him mare Sun Coast.

She was bred by the late Trevor Armitage.

The record books suggest that Beach Beauty is the first racer in history to successfully defend the Gr 1 Paddock Stakes, the Gr 2 Drill Hall Stakes and the Garden Province all in the same season!
