Captain Goes For The Double

Sparkling entry for Gr1 mile

Brett Crawford grabbed his first Gr1 of the season at Scottsville on Saturday, courtesy of the Ascot Stud bred Bold Respect, and will be keen to add to his tally when he returns to defend his R1 million Gr1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge title with the gallant galloper Captain America.

Captain America storms home to win the Gold Challenge 2017

Crawford won six Gr1’s last season so is playing a measure of catch up at this stage and has also entered Champions Cup winner Sail South and the smart Byerley Turk winner Undercover Agent.

Crawford’s senior namesake Harold has entered the Drill Hall Stakes winner Perovskia in the very last of the Vodacom Durban July golden ticket qualifiers.

Justin Snaith is keeping his options open with four of the fifteen entries but has only accepted with his L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate runner-up Copper Force so far.
