2020 Sun Met – Betting

Hawwaam is early favourite

For those who missed the double digit odds on Sean Tarry’s Shango in the Dingaans last Saturday, Hollywoodbets are offering 40-1 about the son of Captain Of All in their ante-post market for the R3 million Gr1 Sun Met to be run at Kenilworth on 1 February 2020.

South Africa’s leading bookmakers have priced the 4yo Hawwaam up as favourite for the Cape flagship after 25 entries were received on Wednesday morning for the 2000m weight-for-age contest.

Shango is one of a trio of 3yo’s in the initial entry – all from the Sean Tarry yard.

Oh Susanna won the Met as a 3yo in its inaugural weight-for-age running in 2018.

Prior to that, Horse Chestnut triumphed as a 3yo in 1999.
