Skip Lunch – Go For The Pudding

Colorado King Stakes jumps at 16h25

Hollywoodbets have SA Horse Of The Year Summer Pudding priced up deep in the red to win the Gr2 Colorado King Stakes at Turffontein today.

The daughter of Silvano was declared by trainer Paul Peter in a chat with the Sporting Post as fit enough to win her comeback run.

Turffontein must be considered her favourite racecourse and the smart filly will look to maintain her unbeaten record over the course and distance where she dished out weight and hammered a field of mostly male opposition in the 2020 WSB Summer Cup.

Trainer Paul Peter says she is over her Cape experience and is back to the form which saw her named Equus Horse Of The Year.

“She’s doing very well,” confirmed Peter. “She is well in at the weights, she’s back over her favourite course and distance and I’m looking forward to her running.”

Tabnews report that she certainly is well weighted. Had this been a handicap she would be conceding chunks of weight all around. As it is, she carries 57.5kg and is at least 8kg better off with any of her opposition.

Warren Kennedy makes the trip from Durban and he will be delighted to be reunited with this stellar daughter of Silvano.

So, while her mission might be the Premier’s Champions Challenge over this course and distance later in the season, Summer Pudding has to be the banker of the day.

She will also have the assistance of two stable companion, Portico and Heart Stwings, who will ensure she is not caught out by a pedestrian pace in this six-horse field.

Sean Tarry-trained Zillzaal is the next best-weighted runner and although he was trounced by Summer Pudding in the Summer Cup, he has come on a lot since then and looks the runner most likely to follow her home.

Fabian Habib-trained Youcanthurrylove is the other runner for Trifectas and Quartets.
