Blame It On The Wife

SA champion trainer in for a good day again

While all the attention on Champions Day will be on Mike Azzie and his champion 3yo Abashiri, trainer Sean Tarry won’t be too far behind and looks to have plenty of opportunity of increasing his lead at the top of the National Trainer’s Log.

Trophy Wife – game and talented

Tarry has a lead of almost R2 million over his nearest rival Justin  Snaith and his Champions Day attack looks a really decent one and likely to enhance his lead substantially.

The ever reliable Trophy Wife is the top rated runner in the R400 000 Gr2 Gerald Rosenburg Stakes and is one of a strong three pronged Tarry attack.

The daughter of Tiger Ridge ruined her chances when slow off in the Gr1 Laurie Jaffee Empress Club Stakes at her last start.

In a very rare non-earning performance she was beaten out of the money by top class Inara.

While slow starting has bugged Trophy Wife throughout her career it will not be as crucial over the 400m extra of this feature.

S’Mango Khumalo sticks with her and with a 2 draw, she will have plenty in her favour.

Instant Success

Her year younger stable mate Inaninstant won the Listed Oaks Trial at her last start and goes for four on the trot.

The daughter of Silvano is obviously improving quickly and even thought the form book suggests that a true run from Trophy Wife could topple her, she certainly is going in the right direction.

The third of the Tarry trio is Enchanted Silk whose form is less impressive than that of her stable mates.

She has shown top ability at various times of her career, but looks a better prospect for the breeding paddocks at this stage of the game.

Trainer Mike de Kock has a decent duo of runners headed by the Listed Spook Express winner The Centenary.

????????????????????????????????????

The Centenary (orange) and Randall Simons team up again

The New Zealand-bred filly was having only her second start after a long break when staying on stoutly and beating Zafira and Marmalady in that race.

Randall Simons has formed something of an affinity with her and he rides again.

Her stablemate Ahlaam has been battling recently and seemed more effective on the sand when that facility was still available.

Vino Veritas and Cassie O’Malley represent the Gavin Van Zyl yard and look to be outside hopefuls at best.

Patchit Up Baby

Patchit Up Baby was a bit one paced last time

Patchit Up Baby jumps from the 1 draw and gets the services of Anthony Delpech.

After a slightly disappointing  effort in the Spook Express, she could bounce back here.

The daughter of ideal World has shown the ability to turn it on late but was flat footed when beaten by The Centenary and is held on that run.

Her stablemate Marmalady finished 2,25 lengths in front there and has maintained a strong and consistent form line since relocating from Joey Ramsden.

She is always thereabouts and with Weichong Marwing up looks an appealing choice to challenge the top two.

Tyrone Zackey’s Pennington Sands was well beaten in the Spook Express and tends to be a little inconsistent.

Louis Goosen

Louis Goosen

The 5yo Coby looks outclassed although anything can happen with Andrew Fortune on her back in an open sort of race.

Louis Goosen throws his two into the deep end.

Misristocrat has not been far off but won’t have it easy, while Tricia Dupont only won her maiden at her last start and faces a quantum leap in class.

The Tarry pair of Inaninstant and Trophy Wife are the choice to fight this out.
