Jet Aglow

Dennis Drier-trained Jet Master filly Jet Aglow will go close

Two high quality 4yo daughters of Jet Master clash in the R350 000 Gr2 Gold Bracelet run over 2000m at Greyville on Saturday. The showdown between Dennis Drier’s Jet Aglow and Glen Kotzen’s Jet Belle should provide some fireworks in the final leg of a tough Pick 6.

Appropriately for the big day, Jet Belle is a daughter of a former Gold Cup winner in the Ahmad mare Bella Bianca, who won the race in 1998.

There is also an added element of fun needle by virtue of the fact that Jet Aglow was once trained by Kotzen and the duel between these two crack fillies should make for a fascinating race.

Interestingly their paths have not crossed in recent times and their respective approaches into this race have been quite different.

Burning Bright

Jet Aglow half stands out as the more consistent of the two and has been performing at the top level with placed performances all year.

After running on beautifully for third in the SA Fillies Sprint behind Via Africa over a distance short of her best, Jet Aglow went second to the high-riding Hammie’s Hooker in the Gr2 Tibouchina Stakes last month.

Worryingly she returned distressed after that run but that would have been resolved by top trainer Dennis Drier.

Interestingly, Jet Belle actually beat Hammie’s Hooker a short head in the Poinsettia Stakes in April.

It could be argued that suggests Jet Belle as superior but Hammie’s Hooker had naturally flourished two months later when beating Jet Aglow.

First Class

Jet Belle remains a first class filly.

She ran on well in the Gold Challenge when 4,25 lengths behind King Of Pain.

She never showed in the July when 12th and 7,55 lengths behind Legislate but will find this competition far more manageable.

Her form last season when a great third in the Woolavington over the course and distance also proves her superb versatility.

Place Prospects

Brett Crawford’s Dynasty mare Dancing Dynasty was riding a three run winning streak wave but came crashing to earth when 14,50 lengths back in the Garden Province Stakes.

She was also reported to be not striding out there and her soundness must be a concern.

Alec Laird’s Orator’s Daughter ran in the Listed Off To Stud Handicap at Scottsville on Sunday. The form of that run should be included in calculations.

Rose Is Back

Last year’s winner Razzle Dazzle Rose is back for another bite at the cake, but has done very little since.

She ran 10,50 lengths behind Beach Beauty in the Garden Province Stakes on July day and needs to improve dramatically.

Gauteng visitor Love Vivien was also down the field in the Garden Province Stakes (11,25 lengths) and does not appear to have the credentials to win a race of this nature.

Her stablemate Touch The Sky on the other hand ran a nice third and only two lengths adrift of In The Fast Lane in the Woolavington.

Anton Marcus rides her for the first time and she is very highly thought of by the astute Geoff Woodruff.

Bass Duo

The Mike Bass coupling of Shingwedzi and Supreme Sunset are both consistent and capable.

The Trippi filly Shingwedzi has been a model of consistency since shedding her maiden in January.

She showed nice ability on the PE poly very close to the talented She’s A Pippa and ran on well for third in the Oaks at her first start in KZN. She finished 1,75 lengths behind Dylan’s Promise after encountering traffic problems late.

That race was over 2500m and dropping down to 2000m here, she could well up her game

Supreme Sunset was unplaced in her only KZN start when reported to have been changing legs.

While she has a smart turn of foot, she is really a modest two-time winner who looks outgunned here.

Outclassed

Sean Tarry’s Enchanted Silk is drawn against the paint but looks outclassed in this company.

The daughter of Kahal beat Nisa’s Love by 3 lengths at her last start, but prior to that ran Dancing Dynasty to 1,80 lengths in a six horse field over the Clairwood 1900. She is a half kilo worse off with the Crawford runner.

Jeff Freedman’s Australian-bred Royal Denise ran 15 lengths back in the Listed East Coast Handicap last time out and has a tough task at these weights on proven ability and current form.

Two Jets

The two daughters of Jet Master should fight this out. They look a notch above their opponents.

Touch The Sky and the rather consistent Shingwedzi may be best of the rest.
