Tarry’s Kahal filly Intergalactic scored an overdue first stakes success when winning the R400 000 Gr2 Ipi Tombe Challenge to round off the champion yard’s victory quintet.

Tarry was in bright form. His haul included two Gr2’s,a Gr3 and two maidens – and in three of those he also saddled the runner-up!

Named in honour of a champion of the turf, the Gr2 mile boasted an eleven strong line-up and after Intergalactic was slow out,  the pace was on from the jump with Fort Ember showing the way.

When the favourite Negroamaro came forward with Polyphonic at the 500m to challenge Fort Ember, the race was on

With the action down the middle, Polyphonic looked a likely winner as Negroamaro went one-paced and Tahini arrived on the scene.

It was anybody’s to win at the 200m.  Despite taking forever to get going down the inside, Intergalactic found her best finish to hold off the persistent Polyphonic by 0,40 lengths in a time of 99,50 secs.

Polyphonic ran a courageous race and should not be long in registering her third win.

The winner’s stablemate Tahini was not disgraced a head behind her, with the pacesetting Fort Ember clinging on for a 1,70 length fourth.

The favourite Negroamaro was disappointing and trainer Johan Janse van Vuuren will have to go back to the drawing board with her.

The R360 000 2014 CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run graduate was bred by Summerhill Stud.

She is by the ill-fated Kahal out of the Australian-bred Galileo mare, Nojoom.

Intergalactic took her stakes tally to R715 875 with her fourth and 10 places from 24 starts.
