The never say die Australian bred Orator’s Daughter showed character and class when she rallied strongly to win the R250 000 Gr3 Jacaranda Handicap run over 1800m at Turffontein on Saturday. Cape jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe deputised for Anton Marcus who was in Dubai for Variety Club’s terrific win in the Godolphin Mile.

It was a remarkable twenty minutes for Ingrid and Markus Jooste in many respects after Variety Club’s sensational win moments earlier at Meydan. Just a short while after Orator’s Daughter had won at Turffontein, their Hussonet gelding Rio Carnival won the Gr3 Kings Cup at Clairwood.

After a hard run affair, Alec Laird’s Orator’s Daughter showed her credentials by collaring the dangerous looking Mystic Tigress,  and then staying on very well.

Orator’s Daughter held the storming pack off to win a thriller by a half length in a time of  111,31 secs.

Gavin Van Zyl’s Trippi filly Tip Toe stormed through late for second, wit Mike De Kock’s mare Forgive No Forget back in third.

Orator’s Daughter is a winner of 5 of her 7 starts with 2 places and R 516 250 stakes.

The Australian bred Orator’s Daughter is by the Danehill sensation Oratorio who is proving a winner for South African horseracing since being acquired from Coolmore by Avontuur Stud, where he is currently standing.

Orator’s Daughter is out of the NZ bred O’reilly mare Irish Edition.

She was bred by LM and JM Beer in Queensland and purchased on behalf of Anton Procter by Andy Williams’ Worldwide Bloodstock in Australia as a weanling for Aus $46 000

Mayfair Speculators (the Joostes) bought her as lot 186 on the 2011 National Yearling Sale for R800 000.

Bernard Fayd’herbe must take plenty of credit for a superb ride.
