Cape trainer Vaughan Marshall and SA Champion jockey Anton Marcus celebrated a fantastic feature race treble at Scottsville on Sunday. Champion 3yo filly All Is Secret’s workmanlike win in the R150 000 Gr3 Poinsettia Stakes was probably the cherry on the top of a memorable afternoon.

Marcus and Marshall have always been a combination to take cognisance of and the Cape conditioner would have been particularly pleased with the brightening of his stable form on the eve of the launch of Champions Season. And he must be excited too that he has a lovely spectrum and a diversity of racers in his powerful string.

Marshall sent a coupling to post and it was his two that made the early running down the KZN Capital City’s straight track.

Var’s daughter Valdivia showed terrific pace from Victorian Secret with Comtesse Dubois showing up well ahead of her speedy stablemate Victorian Secret.

Marcus pushed the launch button at the 300m and the grey flyer burst clear as Miss October came out to chase with Comtesse Dubois staying on nicely.

The 17 to 20 favourite packed too many guns and she went away to win by 1, 50 lengths in a time of 68,64 secs.

Miss October showed up rather nicely over the extra 200m to hold on for second ahead of Comtesse Dubois.

The latter’s stablemate Victorian Secret patently needed the run and she will improve many lengths with the benefit of the outing.

The BBP Syndicate-bred winner is by Captain Al out of the top-class six-time winning Goldkeeper  mare Secret Of Victoria, who was also trained by Marshall.

She went through the National Yearling Sale ring as an R800 000 purchase.

All Is Secret has run 10 times for 5 wins, which includes 2 Gr1’s, and 3 places for gross stake earnings of R99 6 630.

She looks all set and ready for the Gr1 SA Fillies Sprint at the end of this month at the same venue.
