Super field for the 2013 R1 million Gr1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas

Whistle Stop wins Graham Beck Stakes

Whistle Stop. Serious raider from the De Kock yard

A high class field of fifteen 3yo males will line up for the R1 million Gr1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas at Kenilworth on Saturday 21 December.

The champion local pair of Brett Crawford’s Captain America and Joey Ramsden’s Red Ray will take on Mike De Kock’s Graham Beck Stakes winner, Whistle Stop.

But the race does not end there, with Dean Kannemeyer sending out a trio of runners, in a race that he has won more often than he cares to remember.

Kannemeyer’s Capetown Noir registered the rare Guineas / Derby double last year.

The Guineas remains one of the most significant on the racing calendar – cognoscenti accord enduring respect to winners of this great race. Colorado King, Hawaii, Horse Chestnut and Jay Peg went on after their victories to become International legends, whilst champion sires Jet Master and Captain Al established their racing reputations when winning here.

Adams said: “We aim to make it a special family day at Kenilworth Racecourse.”

Burger King South Africa being one of GPI’s Subsidaries intends to reach out to disadvantaged kids and our senior citizens by making it a special day for them. In keeping with this drive, there will be a strong emphasis on charity and acting in the best interest of the community.  Coming just a few days before Christmas, the focus will be on making it memorable for attending families, with loads of generously donated gifts. Given the beautiful setting and rejuvenated facilities, it is a day not to be missed by families eager to share in the Festive spirit together.
