Greyville – Handler Narrowly Escapes Injury

That was inches from serious injury!

The KZN starter has been quiet for a few weeks but the man with his finger on the panic button almost caused chaos at the start of the Gr2 WSB 1900 today.

A handler, who was busy in gate 8 or 9, can be seen rolling out the front of the stalls as the full field is loaded for the sixth race – the feature race on the eight-race programme.

The unidentified individual found himself in no-man’s land and dashed  to the outside rail just as the gates were sprung – almost being run over by the eventual winner, Elusive Silva, who jumped from the widest berth.

But watch the replay for yourself – even though the edit published by Gold Circle cuts out most of the build-up to the drama.

The Stipes Report is awaited.

In the meanwhile, Gold Circle and the NHA have been asked for a comment.
