Asssaulted. Jockey Chris Taylor alleges that he was attacked in the Greyville car park

An ugly incident between two senior jockeys marred the Greyville meeting on Sunday.

While details are very vague, it is believed that an incident during the running of the third race spilled over into a disagreement between jockeys Muzi Yeni and Chris Taylor in the Greyville jockey room.

A post by jockey Chris Taylor on the africanbettingclan.com outlined the brief and only details available so far:

” The third race incident boiled over in Jockey Room, and I fear Muzi has a broken nose & sprained wrist after headbutt and scuffle.
In the car park, I was confronted by Muzi and about 8 disgruntled family/friends/punters. I was pushed, tripped & kicked. Scraped elbow & cut hand.Security/punters/owners broke it up.

After calming down in Boardroom, we went to Berea police station. No charges were laid and the incident was recorded and all parties warned. Muzi and I have apologised to each other.
NHRA Inquiries to follow and we have been ordered to meet up with a senior Police officer at further notice.
Unfortunate that this incident has been turned into a race case and I regret that my Fiancé and twins were caught in the middle.
I believe that other race goers were also escorted from the course after causing a nuisance about the incident.

Quite simply its a case where I felt disrespected and Muzi feels he is being bullied by all the jockeys..

We both snapped and will pay the price for it while hopefully learning from the incident.
I will endeavour to focus more on my family, racing, running and charity work in the future.

There are always 3 sides to a story..”
