Vodacom Durban July and international winner Bold Silvano gave owner Gail Thomson some of the greatest thrills of her racing life.
Showing her Dad’s courage and heart, his smart daughter Klever Kathy beat the favourite March Music in the Guineas Plate at Fairview on Friday to make it a feature exacta for the classy Ascot Stud stallion.

With Oratorio’s daughter Carlita lumping top weight in the 1400m non black-type feature, a Bold Silvano exacta was always on the cards and the in-form Winning Form flagbearer Muzi Yeni rode a terrific tactical race on the Gavin Smith-trained Klever Kathy.
In a field of seven, the high-on-confidence Yeni took Klever Kathy out to dictate the pace and she was never headed.
Coming into the 300m, Greg Cheyne was making his way from last on Carlita as March Music tried her hardest to get to the pacemaker.
But Klever Kathy was not for the catching and she kept on gamely to make it two on the trot over her favourite course and distance.
With the official winning margin a comfortable length, Klever Kathy registered her third win from 12 starts in a consistent career that has seen her run 7 places.
Her time was 83,24 secs on a sunny afternoon.

Carlita was much more relaxed today and made some ground without threatening the leaders – to whom she was conceding weight. On this showing she may get a mile – something that looked unlikely in her 2yo career down the straight!
Klever Kathy, who races in the Gail Thomson pink and green silks, has now earned R221 725 and has been a genuine model of consistency.
She was bred at Gail Thomson’s Bathurst based Riyo Stud and is out of the Casey Tibbs mare, Bretton Wood.
