Newsflash: Wrogemann To Hospital

Gr1 jockey falls in Turffontein fourth

After the high of winning the Gr1 Daily News 2000 on Surcharge at Greyville on Saturday, veteran jockey Gunter Wrogemann tasted the dark downside of life in the saddle when he was unseated at Turffontein on Sunday.

Wrogemann was travelling five lengths back on the rail on the Robbie Sage-trained Ancient Code, when the Horse Chestnut filly appeared to falter and go wrong.

Wrogemann was thrown to the side, but although he fell heavily, did not appear to be exposed to the heels of any horses around him.

He has been taken to hospital for attention.

Just last week, Wrogemann passed the 100 winner milestone in his best season to date.
