Goose Shouldn’t Go Out For A Duck Today

Clarity from Louis Goosen on riding engagement

Summerveld-based former Vaal Viking Louis Goosen has three runners at today’s Hollywoodbets Greyville meeting.

He told Gold Circle’s Warren Lenferna that Jockey Billy Jacobson is now his confirmed stable Jockey and has the full time job with the yard.

He explained the mechanics of the jockey engagements in the opener.

“This is the reason why Billy is riding Battle Of Stirling and not the horse he usually rides, Nikhils Inn, in the first race. Jacobson had absolutely no choice and had to ride my horse – we decided to run in this race. He has to ride all our horses and never ‘got off’ Yogas Govender’s horse. He never had a say in the matter at all and it is not the case that the rider jumped off Nikhils Inn because the first timer of mine is something very special – he rides all my stables horses.”

As regards the  chances of his three runners, Louis affirmed:

“I am not 100% sure if we have done the maximum /enough but my horses look very well.”

  • Race 1:

BATTLE OF STIRLING: It will all be about greenness and behaviour at the course. He can be a bit of a hot horse.

  • Race 8:

UPTOTRIX: Is better than her form – I have her tight and well but is in a strong field.

  • Race 10:

YAAS: Is well but in a strong field. What you see is what you get with Yaas!
