De Melo Tops The Charts

Puller narrows Lafferty's lead

Keagan de Melo’s hot run of form in the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge continued at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday as he regained the lead in the R750 000 competition with a treble on the card.

De Melo’s three-timer included a double for Johan Janse van Vuuren and a winner for Mark Dixon.  With that treble and a few high placings he managed to accumulate a massive 67 points on the afternoon which gave him a 17 point lead.

Anton Marcus was another notable mover on the Sunday card with a treble of his own, and he managed to move into second ahead of S’manga Khumalo who dropped down to third.

Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainer Garth Puller narrowed Paul Lafferty’s 29 point lead down to 7 points on the trainer’s table. Puller had a fantastic weekend accumulating 119 points over the two racemeetings and finds himself in a nice striking position.

The horses’ log still sees the Paul Lafferty trained Bint El Malak ahead of the rest but with many horses carded to run before the end of the year those standings are sure to change very soon.

The next raceday for the KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge will be on Boxing Day at Hollywoodbets Greyville and with the Pick 6 pool guaranteed to reach a whopping R1,7 million, it is sure to be a buzz!
