SA Breeders – Open Minds & Eyes On Inglis Easter

Stressful times for all

With our own National Yearling Sale postponed to May, South African breeders will be following this weekend’s Inglis Australia Easter Yearling Sale with interest.

The BSA National Yearling Sale was postponed by the host sales company well in advance of the lockdown announcement, from a traditional April slot to 20 May.

It is testing times for every sector of industry and agriculture, but it was disturbing to learn this week that our breeders are apparently not even represented on the SA Racing Special Task Team, despite their very strategic role and heavy investment and exposure in the racing food chain. That needs to be remedied!

With the current lockdown due to end at midnight on 16 April, there will be hopes of regularisation and a return to normality so that the May slot can go ahead as provisionally planned.

The alternatives could be a further postponement – or a digital auction?

Now the first ever to be run as a solely digital platform, the Easter Yearling Sale will be held online at inglis.com.au from April 5-8.

Inglis will host a trial Easter Yearling Sale on Friday from 10am-3pm, whereby interested participants who have registered for online bidding will be able to test the online facility.

The test site can be accessed via inglis.com.au from 10am on Friday.

Test bidding will begin closing on lots from 12 noon.

Bidding will open at 10am this coming Sunday, April 5, with each lot to sell sequentially in lot order from 10am Tuesday April 7, completing on April 8.

In order to bid, each participant must be officially registered through Inglis.

All existing Inglis Digital Accounts and Inglis Online Bidding accounts are eligible for the upcoming Easter Yearling Sale.

Existing registered bidders simply need to login and request bidding approval/credit for the Easter Sale.

The Easter auction will be complemented by a Sale Day Live channel hosted by Caroline Searcy.

The Sale Day Live coverage will begin at 9.30am on Tuesday April 7 and Wednesday April 8 with a preview of the upcoming day’s action, as well as providing uninterrupted live coverage and commentary of the sale.

Easter Round 2 will take the form of a live auction on Sunday 5 July, subject to conditions being deemed suitable by Inglis to proceed as a live auction on this date.

This sale will be available to horses catalogued for the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale that have choose to defer to Easter Round 2 or lots that were passed-in through Easter Round 1.
