Gentildonna beats Ofevre in the Japan Cup of 2013

Gentildonna, who has won the last two Japan Cups from stalls seven and 15, will break from gate three when she bids for her hat-trick under Ryan Moore in Sunday’s race.

She is not too far away from fellow market leaders Just A Way (drawn one) and Harp Star (six), while Irish raider Trading Leather is in stall 18.

Gentildonna became the only horse to win two Japan Cups when striking under Moore last year and is 9-2 for an historic third triumph with bet365, whose betting is led by Japanese 1,000 heroine Harp Star at 7-2.

Just A Way, whose romp in the Dubai Duty Free at Meydan in March is still ranked as the best performance of the year, is 11-2 with Japanese 2,000 Guineas winner Isla Bonita – drawn nine – 13-2.

The Jim Bolger-trained Trading Leather, the winner of last year’s Irish Derby, is 16-1, while Germany’s Ivanhowe is 12-1.
