Jockey Sandile Khathi Guilty

Banned substance - and riding weight restricted

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at its offices in Port Elizabeth on 30 September 2015, Jockey S R Khathi (Sandile) was charged with a contravention of Rules 77.1.1 and 77.2.11, in that a urine specimen taken from him at the Fairview Racecourse on 3 August 2015, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Furosemide, which is a banned substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

Mr Khathi pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Mr Khathi guilty of the charge and ruled that he be suspended from riding in races for a period of twenty-one (21) days and, in addition, the Board has restricted his riding weight to 57.5kgs.

Mr Khathi has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
