Joey Deluded

Joey Ramsden…Seriously deluded!

Upon reading Mr Ramsden’s article in last week’s Sporting Post, I had to have a chuckle to myself about his profound insight into my character.

The truth is Mr Ramsden does not know me from a bar of soap!

The only encounter I have ever had with the man was 8 years ago when I was Assistant Trainer to Yvette Bremner in Port Elizabeth. Mr Ramsden was down for the day raiding with a Cape horse and happened to be seated at the same table as me for lunch. We did not even have a conversation as I was on duty and saddling horses most of the day. I remember him throwing some inappropriate and distasteful sexual comments my way. His friend that was seated next to him told me to, “Ignore Joey, he’s always like that.”

I must admit that a small part of me is flattered that I had made such a lasting impression on Mr Ramsden that it incited him to write about me 8 years after our brief encounter.

Thank you to Mr Ramsden for wishing me luck in my new venture as a racehorse trainer.
