JP Maintains Great Form

'One for the Boks!'

Ardent Springbok fan JP van der Merwe (above) is growing in stature in Singapore and booted home his fourth winner in the last three weekends at Kranji on Friday.

The 28 year old JP, who is married to top Eastern Cape trainer Gavin Smith’s daughter Abbi, was thrilled with his growing confidence and good form and suggested it was the perfect tonic on the eve of the Rugby World Cup final in Yokohama on Saturday.

He rode an outstanding race on the John O’Hara trained Equiano mare Miss Michelle in the fourth race, an 1100m Polytrack Class 5 event.

JP has now ridden 10 winners and is looking to build on that in the final two months of the year.
