Jockey Keagan de Melo and trainer Paul Lafferty are the new leaders of the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge after Sunday’s Hollywoodbets Scottsville meeting.

De Melo, who led last week, rode two winners on the afternoon, including Hammam for trainer Dean Kannemeyer and the 15-10 favourite Dark Moon Down for Lafferty.
It was a frustrating day for the latter, who saw some earlier fancied runners in Lady Of Lutetia and the disappointing Share Holder produce below- par performances.
But he bounced back in the final two races, with Bint El Malak running a smart second to lead the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge horses’ log for owner Brian Riley.
The Pick 6, with the pool guaranteed at a minimum of R1,6 million, paid R22 283 – with an additional 10% bonus for winning bet tickets placed on course.
The next KZN meeting is on the turf at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday 20 December.
