The lucrative carrot of a R1-million stake has drawn a slew of entries for the Kuda Sprint with the Non-Black type event to be run as part of the Sun Met celebrated with GH Mumm card at Kenilworth Racecourse on 28 January.
Sean Tarry – will have a strong hand
The 1200m race for two-year-olds is restricted to eligible graduates of the 2016 Lanzerac CTS Ready To Run Sale as well as the 2016 Emperors Palace CTS Ready To Run Sale.
Of the entries received, only three horses have put themselves in line for a guaranteed run in the race with Barrack Street, Sir Frenchie and Gold Image all getting into the winner’s box early on in their careers.
It means the first two mentioned will carry 60kg should they accept while Gold Image will run with 57.5kg on her back courtesy of a filly’s allowance of 2.5kg.
The conditions of the race are set up as such that winner’s and horses placed through to fourth in their careers to date are given preference. In the most recent list, 15 horses meet those criteria while a ballot draw will come into play for unraced or unplaced horses.
Supplementary entries for the race close today – Wednesday, 11 January.
