All Eyes On KZN Yearling Sale

4 - 5 July at Sibaya

The catalogue for the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale is now online.

Long regarded as one of the best value for money thoroughbred auctions in South Africa, the KZN Yearling Sale has produced a lengthy list of high class graded stakes winners over the years, with notable recent graduates including such notable G1 winners as Eyes Wide Open, Happy Valentine, Same Jurisdiction, Seal, and Wild One.

Eyes Wide Open, already a dual Gr1 winner, took his earnings to over R1.9 million when beating fellow KZN Sale graduate Magnificent Seven into second place in the 2019 Gr2 World Sports Betting 1900 and both runners now look a lively contenders for this year’s Vodacom Durban July.

Safe to say, as a multiple Gr1 winning son of Dynasty, the Chrigor Stud owned Eyes Wide Open also looks a very exciting future stud prospect as well!

Last year’s KZN Sale has already produced a number of talented performers, with the list including graded stakes winners African Warrior and Twilight Moon, as well as impressive recent Dahlia Plate victor Hooves Of Troy.

No doubt this list will grow considerably in the months to come.

The 2019 KZN Yearling Sale is set to take place at the Sibaya Casino from July 4th to July 5th and promises to once again be a very popular event.

Among the sires represented on this year’s 289 strong auction are such top class stallions as Duke Of Marmalade, Dynasty, Elusive Fort, Gimmethegreenlight, Ideal World, Oratorio, Pomodoro, Querari, Silvano, Twice Over, Var, Visionaire and What A Winter, while stallions represented by their first KZN Yearling Sales drafts include such exciting prospects as Act Of War, Coup De Grace, Flying The Flag, Futura, Global View, LouisThe King (himself a former KZN Sale star), and Willow Magic.

This year, the KZN Yearling Sale will also offer buyers a rare opportunity to buy a half-brother (Lot 132) to a US G1 winner, with Klawervlei Stud offering a Silvano half-brother to Gr1 Just A Game Stakes winner Antonoe at the sale.

This colt, whose dam is a half-sister to the dam of Gr1 Prix Jean Prat winner Mutual Trust, is from the same female line as successful local sire and four time G1 winner Twice Over as well as the likes of US champion Banshee Breeze and multiple Gr1 winner Yoshida.
