The COVID-19 lockdown has scuppered the comeback plans of dual SA Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle, who was carded to run in a 1200m Pinnacle Stakes at Fairview today.
The dual SA Horse Of The Year is now in the care of Yvette Bremner at her Dippin’ Blu Stables in PE.

He has had some time off, a health check and his trainer says that he is ‘in a good space’.
“He is doing so well and his work into today’s race was good. He is a lovely horse and his record speaks for itself,” she said.
Now an 8yo, Legal Eagle’s last run was in the 2019 Vodacom Durban July where he finished well downfield. His then trainer Sean Tarry said it had been a mistake to send the Greys Inn gelding down to Durban for the Vodacom Durban July.
“It was the first time he had run in the country’s premier race since his three-year-old season and we will rather adhere to the campaign which he had excelled at in the previous three seasons,” said Tarry.
The champion trainer pointed out at the time that despite having been labelled as ‘disappointing’ last season, Legal Eagle had still managed to win two out of eight races, including beating the like of Do It Again and Rainbow Bridge in the Green Point Stakes.
His last victory was achieved in that memorable grandstand finish to the 2018 Green Point Stakes.
Bred by Avontuur, Legal Eagle has won 15 races with 9 places from 32 starts for stakes of over R12 million.
He was bought by Sean Tarry on behalf of Markus Jooste for R425 000 at the 2013 BSA National Yearling Sale.
