Waking From The Dream

Oh so close!

The smart Dynasty filly A Time To Dream looked to be a good thing at the weights but had her supporters sweating as she held on just long enough to thwart a determined challenge by fellow Cape raider Inanna in Friday’s R150 000 Listed Breeders Guineas run at Fairview.

A Time To Dream was the first leg of a winning Friday feature double for the outstanding Dynasty, with his daughter Olma clinching honours just hours later in the Gr3 Kings Cup at Greyville.

Trainer Justin Snaith looked to have found the perfect race to register a splash of black type for the lightly raced filly and the level weights conditions suggested that she would win rather easily off her official rating.

Punters felt the same and she was a popular even money favourite.

But after a six week break following her 4,65 length eighth behind Illuminator in the CTS Million Dollar, she may not have been quite as sharp as she should have been – and Bling was at his professional best to ensure the story ended happily, A Time To Dream showing tenacity to hold Inanna to a short head in a time of 97,56 secs,

Inanna is a full sister to Gr1 winner Inara and looks to be a filly with decent upward potential.

The winner’s stablemate Cup Cake may not have stayed the mile and finished 5 lengths away in third, with Dean Kannemeyer’s Nyangan completing the quartet.

The Normandy Stud-bred A Time To Dream is a 3yo daughter of Dynasty out of the one-time winning Giant’s Causeway mare, Aqueduct.

She was bought by Mayfair Speculators for a very reasonable R240 000 on the 2014 CTS March Yearling Sale.

Friday’s victory took her stakes tally to R232 375 with 4 wins and 1 place from her 7 starts.

On an afternoon of fluctuating fortunes for punters, Aldo Domeyer and Alan Greeff scored a treble to lift the riding and training honours accolade.
