Madame To Do The Talking?

After a five winner haul at Fairview on Friday, who is backing against Gavin Smith’s power attack of 23 runners at Fairview on Saturday?

Smith and his long-time arch rival Alan Greeff boast a veritable stranglehold over the Listed Dahlia Plate.

On Saturday the duo saddle eight of the ten runners in the R150 000 1200m feature and it is very likely that they will dominate matters again.

Smith won the race last year with the smart filly Joking Dice and Greeff the year prior to that with the now Mauritius-based, Oomph.

Madame Speaker can give the boys a hiding again

Only two fillies take on the eight males and, as in the East Cape Derby, it is a member of the fairer sex who stands out.

Listed East Cape Nursery winner Madame Speaker represents the Greeff yard and meets the boys whom she beat there on 2kgs worse terms.

Alfeo, Say No More, Aloysius and Born A Bully ran second, third , fourth and fifth respectively in the Nursery and were so comprehensively outplayed, it is difficult seeing any of them reversing the placings.

Born A Bully gets Richard Fourie and was slow off and raced with his tongue over the bit. He may be worth another chance with better luck.
