Ryan Greets The Judge In Style

Pleasedtomeetyou bounces back to best

Winless in over two years, the lightly raced Querari gelding Pleasedtomeetyou made the Sabine Plattner Racing longhaul from the West Coast worthwhile when he stayed on powerfully to win the R85 000 Listed East Cape Sprint Cup at Fairview on Friday.

After the Cape raiders saw their dreams dashed in the East Cape Guineas a half hour earlier, the visitors bounced back strongly in the speed feature to bank the first three cheques.

The angle is deceptive – but Ryan Munger keeps Pleasedtomeetyou at his task to win (Pic – Pauline Herman)

Ryan Munger rode a well-judged race from the front after a false start and Mother Nature had dished up a trick or two – the tailwind becoming a blustery headwind just as they loaded.

But there was no stopping the Andre Nel-trained 5yo, who plugged away at 10 to 1 to hold off the more fancied Snaith charge Captain Tatters (12-10) by a diminishing short head in a  time of 70 secs flat.

Constable (33-10) was a further 1,75 lengths adrift after failing to quicken late in the charge for home.

A La Plaisance Stud home-bred, Pleasedtomeetyou is a son of Querari out of the twice-winning Fort Wood mare, Plaisir De Fete, who won up to 2000m.

He has won two from 4 from 17 starts with 7 places and took his stakes earnings to R394 750.
