SA Jockey team 2019 reserve Wayne Agrella took the fight to his opposition in a swashbuckling display of front-running riding to register a first black-type score for the Sail From Seattle filly Dancing In Seattle in South Africa’s first feature of 2020 – the R150 000 Listed Lady’s Bracelet at Fairview on Friday.
The Fat Frank sponsored Agrella can ride with the best on his day and he showed confidence in his own judgement and his mount’s ability when he brought the Yvette Bremner 4yo across from her wide gate early on.
Taking the lead early, Dancing In Seattle (18-1) stayed on powerfully and staved off the late attentions of the super-consistent Alan Greeff favourite Madame Speaker (17-10) for a good win by a head in a time of 98,31 secs.
Greeff completed the quartet with Meryl (6-1) and Delia’s Delight (25-1) running third and fourth respectively.
Bred by Spring Meadow Stud, Dancing In Seattle is a daughter of deceased Gone West sire Sail From Seattle out of the one-time winning Silvano mare Cotillion.
She has won 6 races with 5 places from 14 starts for stakes of R377 700.
