Lyle Hewitson steers Aryaam to victory

Bred and owned by Al Adiyaat South Africa, the Sean Tarry-trained Aryaam broke her maiden with a convincing win in Saturday’s Listed Oaks Trial at Turffontein.

The daughter of Dynasty powered home, under a well timed ride by Lyle Hewitson, to go away and score by half a length in a time of 125,85 secs.

The winner is out of the five time winning Asiatic Boy mare Ahlaam.

The consistent Aryaam had finished second or third in each of her four previous starts, and she looks a progressive filly in the making.

The Tarry yard went close to having further feature race success on Saturday, with Cornish Pomodoro finishing second in the Listed Drum Star Handicap, and Ushuaia and Invincible Warrior finishing third and fourth respectively in Saturday’s Listed Derby Trial.
