The Global Power Extends

Four stakes wins from seven starts

Ascot Stud’s well performed Galileo horse, Global View, looks to have come up with a cracking three-year-old in the form of Global Drummer.

The latter, Eastern Cape’s Champion 2YO Gelding of last season and a member of his sire’s very first crop, made it six wins from just seven starts when scoring a courageous win in the Listed Racing Association Stakes at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Gavin Smith, the Ascot Stud bred Global Drummer was all the rage for the 2020 Racing Association Stakes and eventually started an even money favourite for Friday’s contest for 3yos.

Keen early on, top weight Global Drummer was sent to the front under jockey Marco Van Rensburg, and he showed great courage when fighting back to win by a length and a quarter

The three-year-old has now won four Listed races, with Global Drummer’s previous Listed victories including scores in all of the Champion Juvenile Cup, Dahlia Plate and East Cape Nursery.

Out of the Kilconnel mare Royal Drummer, the gelded Global Drummer, yet to be beaten in the Eastern Cape, was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

His sire Global View is a multiple graded stakes winning son of the world’s premier sire Galileo, with Global View being South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020.
