Trainer Paul Peter looks to have a potential SA Triple Crown prospect on his hands after the Mambo In Seattle colt Majestic Mambo doddled in to register his first stakes success and maintain his unbeaten record in Sunday’s R150 000 Listed Sea Cottage Stakes at Turffontein.

It is early days yet but the Moutonshoek bred bargain buy – missed by the well informed audience at the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale and eventually found for a dream R40 000 at the Lanzerac Ready To Run Sale – looks to be a serious racehorse in every respect.
Registering his third win from three starts over 1800m, Majestic Mambo was dropped out to last by Anthony Delpech from a wide draw in Sunday’s feature and simply cut his opposition down to win going away by 2,25 lengths in a time of 111,84 secs.
They were flattered by the winning margin as Majestic Mambo ran very green and could have trebled the gap between himself and the rest. Royal Crusade ran on for second in front of Mike de Kock’s Alshibaa, who showed his Dingaans run to be all wrong.

Trainer Paul Peter said he couldn’t understand how big trainers like Mike de Kock ever slept. “This was a test for him. I haven’t slept for a week! I’d like to thank Mr Ormond Ferraris who has been a massive help to me,” he added.
Anthony Delpech, who has ridden plenty of good horses, said that Majestic Mambo was the kind of horse any trainer or jockey dreams of being associated with. A massive tribute at this early stage of a tough game!
Majestic Mambo is unbeaten in three starts and took his earnings to R218 750.
He was unsold off the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, but subsequently acquired by Paul Peter for R40 000 off the Lanzerac Ready To Run Sale. He races for the Peter family’s Hyperpaint Syndicate.
Bred by Moutonshoek, Majestic Mambo is a son of Mambo In Seattle (Kingmambo) out of the one-time winning Regal Classic (Al Mufti). The dam won at 2400m. He is bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners Desert Rhythm and Fortune Fella. as well as Listed Michaelmas Handicap winner Mr O’Neill.
There are no Mambo Of Seattle offspring at next week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
