Silvano filly puts up her hand for the season

Orffer and Crawford Greyville Cape combination Brett Crawford and Corne Orffer continue to make waves ahead of the SA Champions Season launch on 4 May celebrated a nice feature double at Greyville on Sunday.

We were searching for some staying talent just last week and Hero’s Quest, a promising son of Ideal World, went all the way under Orffer to win the Highland Night Cup. A half hour later, the pair were back amongst the winners, with Silvano 4yo Parabola picking up her first stakes win.

Orffer had Parabola relaxed in midfield in the 1800m R150 000 Listed The Scarlet Lady as Luna Child led them from Fantasy Lady and Premier Dance.

Into the straight, Fantasy Lady pressed for the lead as Premier Dance found her stride down the inside, with Parabola taking off wide out.

Looking for company at the 300m, Parabola drifted inwards and caused a few jockeys to take their mounts up.

But despite her wayward move, Parabola was always well in control and stayed on to beat the classy joint topweight and tote favourite Premier Dance by a half length in a time of 110,60 secs.

The Stipes said:

PARABOLA (C Orffer) shifted in near the 200 metre mark resulting in NGAGA (AUS) (K de Melo) being momentarily inconvenienced and thereafter FRANKING (R Fourie) having to be eased off the heels of PARABOLA (C Orffer). Near the 50 metre mark PARABOLA (C Orffer) continued to shift in resulting in a tiring FANTASY LADY (G van Niekerk) being cramped and steadied and PREMIER DANCE (S Veale) being carried inwards slightly. An Inquiry will be held into this incident.

Leaves Of Grass came from the clouds to grab third, ahead the eyecatching Luna Chiold, who came again after having a rough passage late.

While there isn’t much of her, Parabola looks astutely purchased second hand for R70 000 by Blue Rock Investments off the De Broglio dispersal at the BSA August Kenilworth Sale in 2017. She looks capable of building on her 4 wins with a place from 8 starts and stakes of R295 625,

Bred by Attorney Mike De Broglio, Paradbola, who races in the silks of Rod Mattheyse, is a daughter of Silvano (Lomitas) out of the three-time winner Sensational Secret (Camden Park). She is a full-sister to the former Duncan Howells galloper Hunting Owl, who showed promise early on.
