Just A Kiss

Start to finish

Marco van Rensburg maintained his hundred percent record on the lightning fast Antonius Pius filly Kissable, who ran the boys off their feet under the Greyville lights to win the R150 000 Listed Umngeni Handicap to bring the curtain down on Super Saturday.

The Paul Matchett-trained 3yo speed machine is tailor made for the tight Greyville 1000m poly strip and with her gate speed and ability to race in a  relaxed fashion, it takes a quick and talented one to beat her.

On Saturday, she was out in a flash and never headed, with Van Rensburg changing the gears and powering home at 10-1 to beat the quality stakes winning one-eyed colt Traces by a half length in a zippy 57,26 secs.

La Ferrari and Winter Blues were further back, with the talented Billy Silver fading out late after showing good pace and looking very dangerous late in the race.

A R120 000 National Yearling Sale purchase, Kissable was bred by Moutonshoek and is by Antonius Pius (Danzig) from the speedy three-time winner, Kiss For Kate (Jallad). Antonius Pius is no longer active.

Kissable has won 6 races – three were ridden by the underrated by Van Rensburg – with 1 place from 13 starts for stakes of R450 950.

She is a half-brother to the smart and equally speedy six-time winner Thrust (Toreador) who ran out of the same stable.
