Queen’s Plate Is For Swingers

Green Point Stakes pace could be the key to unlocking the royal treasure

Why not have a look at the race result summary for the Green Point Stakes as it was posted in the SP Digest on 8 December 2016.

Here it is – please scroll to page 17

It is explained there in some detail that the pace had been fast, maybe a shade too fast on the day.

Captain America wins the CTS Ready To Run at Kenilworth 23-11-2013

Captain America – things could go better for him on Saturday!

Which is why the front runner Sail South compounded and Legal Eagle (who’d been fairly handy) had little left, and why Captain America almost stopped to nothing and hung right across the track in the closing stages.

They were bushed.

Marinaresco on the other hand had been at the back, and because of that may have been flattered in showing his finishing kick.

Now we have a virtual re-run of the Green Point Stakes in the Queen’s Plate.

But with one important change.

Richard Fourie

Richard Fourie – pace judge par excellence

The front running Sail South is ridden by Richard Fourie, who is one heck of a judge of pace, and likes to dictate.

Meaning, that if he does set the pace he may not compound as fast as last time, nor for that matter will stable mate Captain America.

And if Marinaresco is held up again (likely, from where he is drawn), he may not get anywhere near the leaders.

The Eagle may still soar, but it seems that for this Queen’s Plate swinger bets with Sail South and Captain America are a fine idea.

All because the weekly SP Digest explained it so well…
