Lyle On Fire In Japan

Second double

The fortunes of South African champion jockey Lyle Hewitson continued to flourish in Japan on when he rode his second double on Saturday in his third race meeting since arriving in the country.

Tabnews reports that Hewitson rode three winners last week at Nakayama Racecourse but they were all on the dirt. This weekend they moved to the turf and that did not stop the 22-year-old South African from notching up another double.

His first win came up in Race 5, a Maiden Plate over 1600m, aboard Charoite, in which he beat Apollo Victori by 0.50 lengths.

He then continued his run in Race 9, a Plate race for three-year-olds over 2000m, where he rode Conduccion. In this race he beat Lord Hommage by 0.50 lengths.
